MODERN DISTRIBUTION MANAGEMENT: JULY WHOLESALE REVENUES UP 0.5% FROM JUNE

Our economy has obviously taken a great hit over the last several months, but good news is slowly creeping its way into the mix. Modern Distribution Management reports that July wholesale revenues jumped from June.

July 2009 sales of wholesalers, except manufacturers’ sales branches and offices, were $314.5 billion, up 0.5% from June but down 19.8% from July 2008, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.

Sales of hardware and plumbing and heating equipment and supplies were up 2.3% from last month. Sales of nondurable goods were up 0.1% from last month, but were down 18.6% from last year. Sales of drugs and druggists’ sundries were up 3.5% from last month, while farm product raw materials were down 3.2%.
